How did we get here? Where did it all start? We live in what Christian theologians call a "post-modern", "post-Christian" world. Hostility towards Christianity has been building up to a crescendo over the past few generations. Where Christianity was once the default religion of choice for most Americanshas cascaded into a denial of the Christian faith as central to the fabric of our country. Unfortunately, this did not take place overnight. It began somewhere.

This extensive Bible study series will explore the various worldviews in this world, their origins, how the Bible addresses them, and how the Christian should respond to them. Our resources will include, video teachings, articles, audio, and books. Our learning will be accomplished by listening, reading, viewing, writing, and asking.

We will begin the series by asking and answering the question, "What is a worldview?", after which we will dive in to the vartious worldviews in our sociaty and world.

Consider this excerpt from "The Colson Center's Dr. David Naugle:

But exactly what is the meaning of this term “worldview”?

Please don’t be put off by it as something for “intellectuals” only. Nothing could be further from the truth! In fact, everybody has a worldview. It seems to be an inescapable characteristic of being human. In fact, as Richard Weaver has suggested, our worldview is the most important thing about us![4] Perhaps these definitions of the concept suggest why:

“A worldview is a “systematic way of looking at the world. It conditions how we interpret the meaning of daily life.” (R. C. Sproul)

A worldview is “The comprehensive framework of one’s basic beliefs about things.” (Albert Wolters)

“A worldview is a set of presuppositions . . . which we hold (consciously or subconsciously, consistently or inconsistently) about the basic make up of our world.” (James Sire)

A worldview is “A comprehensive life system that answers all of humanity’s age-old questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? Does life have any meaning and purpose?” (Charles Colson and Nancy Pearcey)

“A worldview . . . is a set of beliefs and practices that shape a person’s approach to the most important issues in life. Through our worldview, we determine priorities, explain our relationship to God and fellow human beings, assess the meaning of events, and justify our actions. Our worldview even speaks to the most ordinary practices in everyday life, including the types of things we read and view, the types of entertainment and leisure activities we seek, our approach to work, and much more.” (Michael Palmer)
